The Tar Sands debate really hotted up this week and a massive thank to everyone who has written to Nick Clegg and told him to support a law that would ban Tar Sands from entering the fuel mix in EU. It had been leaked that the UK along with France and Holland would not support the ban after intense lobbying from the Canadian government and oil companies. Even though we didn't get the U-turn we wanted (UK abstained) it at least meant that the UK did not vote against a ban. A new vote will be held in June and it's vital that we keep talking about Tar Sands and make sure it does not go away. It seems to be a neglected issue, and gains very little media coverage even in Canada. So whatever you can do from tweeting about, putting it on facebook putting pressure on media to cover it and telling family and friends go and do it, I'm confident it will have an effect. I have experienced a lot of people not knowing about thinking itsounds so shocking they don't believe it's true! So the bottom line is we have to get talking about it... To get an idea who to praise and who to criticise:
THE BAD BOYS: Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Spain, Estonia, Italy, Lithuania, Poland, Hungary.
THE UNDECIDED: United Kingdom, Belgium, Germany, France, Cyprus, Holland, Portugal.
THE GOOD GUYS: Austria, Denmark, Finland, Greece, Ireland, Latvia, Luxemburg, Malta, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden.
