As you're probably sitting and waiting for the long awaited arctic campaign to start, why dont you sit down and do a bit of online activity unless you have done it, then you should spam as many of your friends because a crucial decision will be made next week that will have huge impact regardless what way it goes. The Brazilian congress have agreed a catastrophical forest code that would undo all the good work that has happened in the Amazon rainforest in the last decade. Deforestation is now the lowest since records began in the 1977, and undoubtly that has something to do with strict forest code (even though it could be stricter) that the Brazilian government has imposed. But the good news president Dilma Rouseff still have to approve this, within the looming deadline 25th of May. Two things you can do, Avaaz have created this petion (which are supported by both Greenpeace and WWF) that are growing with rapid speed day for day please add your name to it and tell Dilma to veto the code, do also add your name to this Greenpeace International email. For further information, this was out in the New York Times yesterday which gives a good insight into the mounting pressure upon Dilma.
