Not long ago it was New Year - Christmas was over, and it was time to nudge people towards making 'get active with Greenpeace' their 2012 resolution. Then, our January meeting happened, the VW DarkSide campaign took off after months of gathering online Jedi and spoof films, and suddenly Southampton became a hive of activity. VW street campaigning events every week, new members popping up all over the place, a day wearing a truly uncomfortable Star Wars stormtrooper costume (very popular plus it got us on page 2 of the Echo and extracted a comment of sorts from VW - something that's been like getting blood out of a stone) and then a quick flurry of #SaveTheArctic leafleting outside the Shell garage in Shirley while Shell's drillship was being occupied. Then, straight back to VW street work with more to come, plus the next steps for #SaveTheArctic and our campaign to reform the destructive Common Fisheries Policy and protect marine life. So, more events on their way - watch this space!
