Campaigning against Aldermaston nuke factory

Posted by dshubble - 11 January 2010 at 12:01pm - Comments

Despite the snow and ice causing difficult travel conditions, 19 volunteers turned out on Saturday 9th January to help build public opposition to the new enriched uranium facility at Aldermaston's nuke factory. As a result, they spoke to 335 people about their opinions on the proposed new facility at Aldermaston, and 165 of them signed a letter of objection. This practically doubled the number of objections so far! More importantly, it means that we now have hard evidence from our survey work to show the local planning committee that a decision to give the go-ahead to the facility will be against the wishes of local people.

If you haven't already registered your objection to the AWE planning application and would like to, CND have set up a webpage which will allow you to send an email message to the local planning authority objecting to the new uranium facility. You can find the webpage at: http://www.iparl.com/lobby-cnd/index1.php?actionkey=36

There's also a lot about AWE campaigns, including the big blockade planned for 15th February, on the CND website front page at http://www.cnduk.org/ Please pass details on to anyone else who may be interested in objecting to the planning application and encourage them to email in an objection.
