This afternoon, Eastleigh constituents representing Greenpeace, Friends of the Earth, Eastleigh Transition Network and Christian Aid (under the umbrella of the Stop Climate Chaos Coalition, SCC) visited Chris Huhne, Minister for Energy & Climate Change about a range of climate-related topics. There had been good news this week with Chris successfully fighting for a 4th Carbon Budget and David Cameron accepting recommendations from the Climate Change Commission. However, though a welcome major step, there were still issues to discuss such as the overall strategy of the Energy Bill, the possibility of subsidies for nuclear power, the role of the World Bank in developing nations and aspects of the Warm Homes Amendment. A good discussion was had on a day when other key ministers were also being visited on key topics such as these. Once the discussions have been digested by the SCC, it'll be interesting to see what came out of the meetings - watch this space!
