Illegal timber finally banned in the EU!

Posted by dshubble - 8 July 2010 at 1:30pm - Comments

It’s taken 10 years and has had us hanging off Government buildings more times than I like to remember, but finally illegal timber is banned in the EU. See the Guardian article here

This means that illegally felled timber can no onger be sold in the EU. This is huge and is the culmination of a campaign that a many Greenpeace volunteers have been involved with over the years - from replacing doors at Downing Street, to Banksy graffiti and the Save or Delete street campaigning, not to mention direct actions at the Home Office, Admirality Arch, DEFRA, various activities at sea, events at Wyevale garden centres and Travis Perkins and much, much more...

Without volunteers taking the time to do all this it wouldn’t have been possible - it's the same for all our campaigns, hence all my emails saying pleeeeeease come out and help!

For a more eloquent summary of the campaign please see the Greenpeace website here
