A new independent commission has just been launched to look at Trident replacement. This comes at a time when the Armed Forces Minister, Nick Harvey, has said that he could find very little justification for replacing Trident. According to him, the paper trail leading to the previous Government's support for Trident is 'thin'. So, is there a move towards scrapping Trident? Given that this follows the decision that it would have to be paid for by the MoD (making it less likely that it will be replaced), let's hope so... More from the Guardian here.
