Saving the Arctic from Shell

Outside a Shell garage in Southampton

Live news coming in as I type - volunteers from the Southampton group are touring Shell garages in and around the city, displaying banners and handing out leaflets for the #SavetheArctic campaign. More and more people are dismayed by Shell's apparent disregard for not only the pristine habitats of the far north, but also the world's climate as they scramble to drill for what amounts to a mere 3 years' of oil. This is why, all over Britain, and around the world, people are calling on Shell (and others) to stay out of the Arctic, and for the region to be a 'no-take' zone, just like the Antarctic - remember that the Antarctic only received the protection it has because people stood up and campaigned for it.

There are lots of ways to help - join your local group, put your name on the Arctic Scroll (we have over 400,000 already but we want a million before it goes into a pod at the North Pole!), or if you like a bit of social networking, why not join one of the facebook Arctic Rising groups like the Arctic Foxes? Whatever you choose to do, choose to Save the Arctic!
