You've probably seen plenty of webpage column-inches about the #savethearctic campaign recently, and rightly so - the actions of companies like Shell who want to suck up the last few barrels of oil regardless of the effects on the climate and Arctic habitats will have disastrous consequences if allowed to proceed, which is why we are campaigning so hard. However, while huge actions such as the shutdown of Shell garages in London and Edinburgh go ahead, local groups are often working more quietly, leafleting outside Shell garages, or the case of Victoire here (who is a volunteer with the Southampton group), taking the 'Stop Shell, #savethearctic' message along on a research ship visiting the frozen north - and being watched by a polar bear who I hope approves! If like me, you can't get to the Arctic, there's lots to do - the online links here (plus you can follow #tellshell and #savethearctic on Twitter, or the equivalents on facebook), plus of course getting involved with your local group. Go on, who knows what wonderful things you could do... :)
