Remember last year? - Airplot campaigning, street work... and tree-planting, twinning our local trees with the Airplot orchard in Sipson.
Well, in case you were wondering (of course you were!), the Southampton tree is now in the garden of Lyn, one of our long-standing supporters. It was moved there having been rescued from The Dolphin's pub garden where it was originally planted when we found out the pub was due to close. We didn't need our tools to take out the tree - it hadn't yet made itself at home and came out rather too easily for a tree whose roots should have started growing into its new home. But we saved it - although it hasn't looked too happy this summer, having only a few leaves, we hope it will be happier next year.
The pub then got saved too and environmental groups, including Southampton Greenpeace, started meeting there again, but we don't think the tree would appreciate begin moved again...
