Some concentrated colouring...

On the 8th December Southwark Greenpeace decamped to Surrey Docks farm for a day of campaigning and craft making as well as getting into the Christmas spirit and revelling in the general festive merriment that surrounded us there.

For those of you who haven't been, Surrey Docks farm is a small, almost-rural haven situated by the River Thames. It certainly seemed popular with lots of local families turning up to see the animals and the stalls and of course pay a visit to Father Christmas!

As mentioned in our last blog post we were hoping to try to make the stall really interactive with arctic related craft activities for children. So on Saturday alongside our usual Greenpeace flyers and stickers our table was covered with arctic animal themed masks and finger puppets ready to be decorated with felt tips, colouring pencils and feathers. I can safely say despite getting a bit messy it was a great success. The kids loved it and while they were occupied for 5 minutes the parents were happy to have a chat about our campaigns and sign up to our petition.

Our resident polar bear was also on hand to entertain visitors and frighten the smaller children.

There was a really positive atmosphere around the stall all day and throughout the whole fair. It was a fantastic place to campaign in the run up to Christmas, as everyone was in such high spirits. The outdoor air must have done us all some good!
