On Wednesday the 12th of September 2012, Greenpeace St Andrews hosted its first event of the academic year; a pub quiz at Aikmans. A night filled with music, chatting, general merriment and questions ranging from sport, history, the environment and St Andrews itself.
There was a musical interlude at halftime, acting as a sort of refresher after four rounds of the pub quiz.
The venue was packed with both new and familiar faces. The already warm room was at the peak of the night- “roasting” as one of my friends put it. There was a great reception to all of the questions,
and the music was great fun too. The sounds system was slightly inaudible as when I was performing, I could barely hear the guitar myself!!
Apart from my own lack of hearing, this was a fun-filled night. The prizes we had procured from local shops in St Andrews as well as a few delicious baked goods from our Greenpeace member Rachel made sure it was a night attendees I hope, would not forget!
This year, alongside with fortnightly meetings, upcoming social events, pub quizzes and film screenings, we are currently campaigning to “Save the Arctic”. Please sign the petition (found on the link below):
Let us give the Arctic a strong and powerful voice to help combat exploitation of its natural resources and the seek the conservation, rather than the degradation of this unique ecosystem.
