Greenpeace organises trainings and opportunities for individuals to help with our work. Even if your eventual goal is to setup and coordinate a local network, getting involved as an individual will help start your relationship with the organisation.
Create a Greenpeace profile: Create a username and upload some details, including a picture to your public profile: https://www.greenpeace.org.uk/user/register
Please click the box ‘I would like to receive regular email updates’ and we’ll email you e-bulletins.
Subscribe to the e-Getactive newsletter: Please join the Greenpeace webgroup, and we’ll then email you the more specialised Getactive newsletter, as well as the standard e-bulletin.
What do you want to do? Greenpeace local networks often do a bit of everything, but some specialise in fundraising, or campaigning or public outreach. Have a look at what active supporters do, and think about what you want to do.
Campaign online: Please read e-bulletin and e-getactive, and take part in the online actions. Please personalise standard email templates, and after you’ve completed one action we’ll often send you a more detailed follow up action.
When appropriate we also email people who regularly take online actions, with individual offline asks. For example hiding a Barbie as part of our Mattel / Barbie hunt campaign.
Set your homepage to: http://www.greenpeace.org.uk/groups There are 60-80 active local networks in the UK, and we aim to profile the best stories on the main Greenpeace/active page. In the tools / options section of your browser you can change your homepage, or simply regularly check the page to see what local networks are up to.
What else you can do: Keep an eye on the what you can do section, and e-Getactive and put yourself forward for training opportunities (e.g. political lobbying, Street Campaining Training and/or regional skillshares) and centralised events (e.g. big protests) when they are advertised.
Blog for us: Once you are active as an individual, then please contact us using this webform, to tell us you're interested in blogging for us.
Depending on the circumstances, we’ll then setup a new webgroup, email you details and invite you to submit a regular blog to the webgroup. This will help you build local interest, and will be invaluable for publicising the events you organise.
