I think most people are aware that the Arctic is melting and that global warming through man's activities is to blame, but seeing the film Chasing Ice was truly shocking as to seeing the reality of what's happening there .

Chasing Ice is the project of one man, an American photographer who set out to record exactly what is happening in the Arctic with time lapse photography over a period of roughly 5 years in various locations in the Arctic, particularly Greenland and Alaska. Some of the images are startlingly beautiful, but what one is also left with is a feeling of almost panic at the speed and extent to which glaciers are melting and ice shelves collapsing. The film gives incontrovertable evidence of Arctic ice melt at an unprecedented rate and, this should give a sense of urgency to humanity in tackling global warming.

We had a Greenpeace stall at the exit of the film and despite most people rushing out to go home, we had some interest in our Love the Arctic campaign and collected some money to go towards fundraising for a new Greenpeace survival Pod to help in the Arctic campaign.
