Greenpeace Telford took to the streets of Wellington today to turn Volkwagen away from the Dark Side. Despite their claims that they want to be the world’s greenest car manufacturer, VW are lobbying against laws that would make cars more efficient and cut Europe’s CO2 emissions.
We asked members of the public to sign our action cards, asking VW to live up to their green promises.We were very pleased to find lots of new Jedi Warriors and sent loads of VW owners away with their 'I've joined the Rebellion' car stickers! We were even joined by the Mayor of Wellington, Cllr Lesley Street, who was very happy to join the Rebel Alliance!
VW have developed cutting edge Blue Motion Technology, which will enable them to meet EU’s proposed lower Co2 emission levels. Of course this will be better for the environment but crucially it will also drive innovation in the wider automobile industry.
As Europe’s largest and most influencial car manufacturer it's high time VW showed proper leadership!
