Greenpeace Telford - A Year in Words (and Video)

Working hard at Farmer Phil's Festival!

It's been another busy year for Greenpeace Telford, here is a little taste of what we've been up to for the last 12 months with added video goodness courtesy of Doug the Goat!

The first few months of the year were dedicated to fund raising for the Rainbow Warrior III, the worlds first purpose built, state of the art campaigning vessel. I began to create items for an auction, Katie began training for Brighton Marathon and we all starting making arrangements for a fantastic gig night.

Throughout the summer the fun times continued with the Barbie Hunt, volunteering at Glastonbury and Farmer Phil's Festival (where we all struggled monumentally with the phrase 'Commom Fisheries Policy' but somehow still managed to gather lots of letters for the CFP campaign!) and Katie's incredible voyage on the final tour of Rainbow Warrior II!

As Autumn began our attention turned to the Volkswagen campaign. We began by taking part in an Europe wide day of action against Volkswagen by visiting VW dealerships in Birmingham and Telford.  Whilst waiting for the street campaign to begin a few of us went along to share skills, beer and curry with members of other networks around the region. In the meantime Doug (and a few little helpers) put together an amazing entry for the VW film competition - you can see it here.

With the onset of winter came a visit to That London where 4 of us joined activists from across the UK to shut down the Department for Transport in protest against their stance on Tar Sands. With the festive season just around the corner we had just enough time before a well earned rest (or shipping out to the Arctic Sunrise in Katie's case!) to visit the shiny new Rainbow Warrior III at Canary Wharf and our first VW street stall where we recruited (amongst others) one very surprising new addition to the Rebellion!

Phew! It's been an amazing year and with all the plans we already have in the pipeline 2012 is looking even better! If you want to get involved with Greenpeace you can find out where your nearest network is here, come and join the fun!
