Summary of February meeting

Posted by cachaca80 - 12 February 2010 at 6:58pm - 0 Comments

£178 billion in national debt and the government are planning on upgrading our nuclear defence system Trident with £97 billion of our money...we don't think so...Greenpeace are kicking off the new campaign against Trident this month. There are a great number of reasons why we shouldn't be wasting this money on a nuclear defence system and far more pressing issues are the very real threats of peak oil and climate change. In the next couple months leading up to the election we will be concentrating on persuading our local MP's to vote against replacing Trident by making them aware of just how much public opinion is also against it. See http://www.cnduk.org/index.php/campaigns/trident/no-to-trident.html for more information and we will keep you up to date with local goings on via this website...

We agreed to keep the stall on Saturday focussing on Airplot and recruitment until we get more briefings on Trident so please come along and have a chat if you are in town between 2 and 5pm outside the entrance to Eldon Square near Monument. We also had a new member join us and we would like to welcome her to the group.

Anyone who did the street campaign training last Saturday would be especially welcome to attend the stall and help us out as it will be a good opportunity to put the training into practise.

Hopefully we will see some of you on Saturday...
