Bear takes a break

Polar bear's visit to Hexham was a busy one.  This was the bear's most northerly English venue so far on his attention raising tour of the UK.  It was a sunny morning but fortunately with enough of a cold breeze whipping round the Hexham Abbey to keep a bear cool.  Thanks to farmers market stallholders for helping bear's back-up band from Tynedale Greenapeace to set up.  Bear attracted much attention throughout the morning from those out and about in Hexham.  Children were especially interested in the bear and in the threats to the Arctic.  More than 30 people posed with our bear to show their support for the Actic campaign.  Let's hope the leaders at the forthcoming international conference take note!
