On Saturday seven members of the Tynedale Greenpeace group staffed a stall in the centre of Hexham at the busiest shopping time. They invited members of the public to sign dove messages or to text calling for the release of the Arctic 30 and their ship, and for drilling for oil in pristine Arctic waters to stop.
