E17 Art Trail

Those that know Walthamstow will know that the E17 Art Trail is one of the highlights of the year. Held at the beginning of September it sees a wide array of artists, musicians, poets and more stage performances, workshops, exhibitions and events. Last year it was tipped as event of the month by Time Out magazine.

This year the Art Trail will have a strong campaigning theme as there will be not just one, but two Greenpeace linked events on the Trail. They include:

Art of Action
Includes photographs from Greenpeace actions both nationally and internationally. The Waltham Forest Greenpeace group has a strong history of direct action, so expect to see some local faces in there too. The exhibition takes place at the Hornbeam Cafe and will include a film screening of Nick Broomfield's When a Time Comes - the story of the Kingsnorth Six.

Photographing Fashion's Dirty Secrets
Photographs from Greenpeace's Detox campaign will appear along side those from other organisations campaigning to clean up the fashion industry. The exhibition culminates in a fundraising event for the organisations who have donated photos, and takes place at the Rose and Crown on Friday 14th September. If you can't make the fundraising event then you can also give online
