Orford House Social Club, Thursday 29 March, 7.30pm.
On 29 March, the Queen is visiting Walthamstow. She would, no doubt, normally be taken on a tour of the town’s cultural and natural highlights. Unfortunately the William Morris Gallery (currently closed for refurbishment), Lloyd Park (mostly closed due to asbestos), and the EMD Cinema (currently closed due to protracted legal battle) are off the menu.
It is therefore anticipated that the Queen will be given two choices:
1. Spend the evening at Dixy Chicken on Hoe Street.
2. Go to the Waltham Forest Greenpeace Film Night.
So, you ask, what does this film thing have to offer?
Well...
- The first public screening (in E17) of Greenpeace: The Story, a brilliant documentary on the 40-year history of Greenpeace
- Campaign films detailing our current work to save the climate and the planet
- Local films of London volunteers doing their exceptional stuff
- Inspiring volunteers answering questions about Greenpeace and the environment
- The chance to meet a real live Imperial Stormtrooper straight from the Death Star
- Cheap beer
- Cake
- Lively company in lovely surroundings
Entry is free with a suggested donation of £5 (ish). Doors open at 7.30pm and we hope to start the films just after 8pm.
Everyone is invited. Please come and find out more about Greenpeace's incredible history and the volunteers who are taking action to save the planet in your borough.
And who knows? You might find yourself rubbing shoulders with royalty.
See you there.
