Keeping up the Pressure in Dorchester

Saturday 11th August saw a successful follow up to Shell Day. We wanted to show Shell that our visit on July 21st was not a one off and that we intend to keep up the pressure. This time they were more surprised to see us.

11 of us lined both sides of the road. 6 of these were not at Shell Day, so altogether 35 have been prepared to stand up in Dorchester and send Shell the message that they must leave the Arctic.

Some drivers who accepted leaflets said that they would not have filled up had they realised that Shell were planning to exploit the fragile Arctic environment. Unfortunately there is usually not enough time to lay out the alternatives to those who say they agree but cannot see an alternative - hopefully they will read the leaflet and go on-line to find out more.

My personal highlight of the morning was reaching up on tiptoes to hand a leaflet to the Shell tanker driver who promised to read it.

Our next visit is planned for Saturday 18th August 9:00 onwards.
