The dark side

On Tuesday several West Dorset supporters were in London, Greenpeace climbers unveiled 'Volkswagen: The Dark Side' billboards on huge advertising spaces in Old Street, while the rest of us, some dressed as Stormtroopers greeted people on the street with info about the campaign. We're targeting VW because they've been lobbying against emission cuts.

The EU has already agreed to cut emissions by 20% by 2020, but several countries, including the UK, are pushing for larger cuts of 30%. They're also considering new targets for car efficiency. Transport accounts for a quarter of our CO2 emissions, so it's important that new cars are cleaner than those we use today.

VW claim they want to be the most eco-friendly car company, but they're opposing these targets. They already have technology with the potential to reduce their cars' emissions, but last year only 6% of their cars sold had this technology.
