Trident Campaigning 17th April

Posted by Olliegray - 19 April 2010 at 10:01am - Comments

A big thank you to Paul, Catherine, Sandeep, Becky, Naz, Nicola and Rollo for their brilliant work in the sunshine on Saturday engaging the people of Hammersmith in the Greenpeace Cut Trident Campaign.

We polled local residents and an overwhelming majority of 94% were supportive with 165 people saying no to replacing Trident and only 10 in favour.

Over 30 letters to David cameron and Gordon Brown were signed and these will be winging their way to the House of Commons ahead of the election.

This campaign is getting real traction and lots of coverage, especially after Nick Clegg raised the issue in last week's leader debate.

If you haven't already done so, please email your PPCs to ask their views on Trident and ask them to push for the inclusion of Trident in the Strategic Defence Review. You can do this through the Greenpeace website - http://cut-trident.greenpeace.org.uk/

If you are on facebook you can join this group - can a mushroom get more fans than Trident:

Or this one, we agree with Nick Clegg, lets not replace Trident:

Thanks everyone, hope to see you for a pint on Friday night!!

Ollie
