Rod from Worthing made the trip to London on 29th July to take part in the daily handover of leaflets and "NO TAR SANDS" posters at BP HQ. Here is what Rod had to say about it.
"I made it to the BP HQ on Thurs, there was a change of arrangements so we met there mid afternoon together with activists from Essex West, Durham & the Midlands. We leafleted people entering & leaving BP they mostly received the leaflets graciously (they must have been briefed by the PR dept), although one person got into a debate with an activist."
"The BP Press Officer came out to meet us & made the excuse that he could only stay for a minute because he had to get the train home. We had photos with him & gave him our posters & presents. There's a photo of me handing him the present from Worthing that someone is going to email though so I'll forward it on for the website. When I told the press officer I was from the Worthing Group he said he lived nearby & one of the activists suggested he should join the group but he politely declined."
"This is a great way to campaign against BP & the Tar Sands Campaign & is really keeping the pressure on them as Greenpeace has been outside BP most of July & no one has told the protest is ending this this weekend."
Well done Rod!
