Meeting at the flix

We usually meet on the first Wednesday of the month at Ye Olde Starre on Stonegate, but next week we will instead be meeting at the City Screen cinema on Monday April1st (no foolin).  This is because we will be hosting a Save the Arctic campaign stall alongside the cinema’s second showing of  Chasing Ice – a dramatic and moving film that shows the undeniable evidence of climate change within the Arctic Circle.  Interestingly, it was a film created by an initial climate sceptic. If you’ve not seen it yet, I would encourage you to do so, this Bank Holiday Monday. The film starts at 6.30pm, but I would also recommend that you also check here for further details.  Here's the official movie teaser/trailer...

...and of course, we'd love it if you came over to say hello, find out more about the campaign, and maybe even consider getting involved as an active supporter?

Survival pods and cake

Greenpeace needs a little bit of help to fund a new survival pod for its direct actions that take place in extreme and hostile conditions. A new and dedicated web site has tons of information and videos about the previous two survival pods and how they were been used, as well as runnig a competition to get involved in the design of the new pod.  The web site is here.

We’ll be raising funds to contribute to the much needed £80,000 on Saturday April 6th with a cake stall. So come along, have your cake and then eat it knowing your yummy purchase will be helping to enable Greenpeace direct actions.  Look out for us on Saturday morning from 11.00am on Parliament Street.
