What a great way to spend Valentine's Day! Five people from Yorkshire Coast Greenpeace Group spend a productive few hours cleaning up the South Beach at Scarborough. Sadly there was a lot of rubbish to be cleared. Most worryingly there was a huge amount of polystyrene from all the cups & chips trays which was crumbling & mixing in with the large amount of seaweed on the tide line.
Amazingly we also found over a dozen disposable lighters & also lots of other litter which was not only unsightly but incredibly dangerous for the local wildlife. After the litter picking we had a well earned lunch in a beautiful little cafe which had an amazing view of our lovely clean beach. We are already planning our next beach clean. Watch this space!
