Aurora's coming

Have you heard? Aurora's coming.

You mean you don't know what Greenpeace are up to?

Well ok then I'll tell you. They're having a big parade in central London and inviting loads of people to walk with them and Aurora, a massive Steampunk polar bear. She's the size of a London double decker bus and weighs 3 tonnes.

Cool, yes I know, and she's going to "walk" - well 30 puppeteers are going to help her, and move her head or neck and she's going to open her mouth like a massive ice cave.

Who thought that one up? Well, Chris Kelly and Simon Costin designed her and Factory Settings are building her. They did stuff for the Paralympics ceremony last year.

Loads of people have signed up to be Arctic Defenders and have signed white ribbons that are going to be part of her fur. She's going to march through London on September 15th and there's 70 other cities doing things to help.

Why? Well Greenpeace want to stop Shell and Gazprom drilling for oil and gas in the Arctic.

Why? Doh! Climate Change? Why is she called Aurora? I don't know - Northern Lights or something like that or maybe it's the name of that flag they put on the bottom of the sea bed. What's that, well that's another story and you can read all about it on their website.

Do you fancy joining Aurora in London? Yes? Well if you go to this website and sign up now you could! http://action.greenpeace.org.uk/page/s/aurora
