What will you be doing on Sunday 15th of September?
Mowing the lawn?
Reading the papers?
Or perhaps helping to save a unique and precious area of OUR planet, The Arctic?
We would really like you to come along and join us in London for the Polar Parade, a global day of action that will take place in over 20 countries.Come and walk through the streets with the worlds largest polar bear, yes thats right, a huge polar bear the size of a double decker bus and weighing over two tonnes!Aurora the polar bear is a giant sized puppet similar to the Sultans Elephant that will be pulled by Greenpeace volunteers. The day is going to be a fun day the whole family can enjoy, not matter how old you are anyone and everyone is welcome.
Join with hundreds of fellow arctic defenders and help us to tell greedy and polluting oil companies like SHELL to STAY OUT OF THE ARTIC. By standing together we can send them a message that we dont want them to drill for oil, the very thing that has warmed the earth up to such an extent that the sea ice minimum has reached its lowest summer cover since satelite data collection began in 1979. In 2012 the extent had fallen to 4.41 million sq km (1.32 million sq mi) 50% lower than the 1979-2000 average.

The Arctic is home to some of the natural worlds iconic animals and birds and if it were to be hit by an oil spill it would devastate the area and be impossible to clean up, especially during the winter months. That is why we must stop the oil companies before they begin to drill and wreak untold damage on one of the worlds unique eco-systems.The burning of oil and other fossil fuels are making climate change that will affect everybody on earth much worse and we must reduce our dependence on fossil fuels if we are to reduce global temperatures.
