Greenpeace volunteers have another chance to tell Shell to GET OUT OF THE ARCTIC.

Saturday 22nd September is global Shell Day 2.

Please keep the date free in your diary and try to attend if you can. Volunteers old and new will be very welcome to join in with our global campaign.

Arctic sea ice is now at a record low level, latest figures show that on 13th of August ice extent was 483,000 sq km (186,000 sq miles) below the previous record low for the same date 5 years ago.

Fossil fuels such as oil are one of the major contributions to this ice melt and climate change as a whole. How very disturbing would it be if Shells attempt to drill for yet more planet polluting oil, created a new oil spill in the arctic and condemmed one of the worlds most unique eco systems to the untold damage and destruction of one of the worlds last true pristeen wilderness areas.

Together we can send a message to Shell and others that we will not stand idly by while they pollute with impunity. The arctic  should be protected as a national park for the world and generations to come and we at Greenpeace have already made that first step with over a million names on an arctic scroll to be planted on the arctic seabed, indeed we are also well on the way to adding another million to that scroll, so if you would like to be part of the 2 million go here to get involved
