Lucy Trident Demonstration Nuclear Weapons

Didn't we do well

One of the problems I find campaigning with Greenpeace is I get really focussed on organising the next event. I rarely get a chance to reflect on what's been achieved in the past. My new years resolution was to stop doing this, and remember our achievements; and I'd start by listing all the major things our group achieved in 2009. Though I say so myself, I think the results are impressive.

Iraq Inquiry

Tony Blair gives evidence at the Iraq Inquiry

A couple of us travelled up to London with friends from Reading Peace Group to join the demonstration outside the Iraq inquiry when Tony Blair gave evidence. Lots of people there and a constant chant of 'Tony Blair - War Criminal' which was hopefully heard inside the conference centre where the inquiry was taking place.

GROW APPLES NOT AIRPORTS!

Tree of Thoughts from tree planting event sent to Mr Miliband

This week, following the lack of commitment to a binding deal from governments in Coppenhagen, we thought we'd send our own secretary for climate change and energy Mr Miliband a new years gift to remind him that we will continue to stand for a sustainable climate future.

Business students seeing the bigger picture!

Anna, one of our fabulous Greenspeakers, tries to get some business students to see Greenpeace in a new light:

During my years as a Greenpeace volunteer I have encountered a wide range of reactions from the general public. It goes from the genuinely supportive (“thank you for being there, keep up the good work”) to the rather less printable (“&%+* off and get a bath/haircut/job, you %~@#+y #*@%y”)!

Copenhagen Banner Another World

Another World is Possible

“I don't want to come to Copenhagen”, said an activist friend I know in November. “I don't see what's the point in travelling all that way and causing all that climate change just to go on a demonstration”. At the time I thought I she had a point, but on the bus home I remembered the argument against. Firstly, that trains don't cause that much climate change. Secondly, that activist weekends away are far more than “just a demonstration”, they give you a glimpse of another world.

Berkshire gorilla and the Big IF

Big If Campaigning 19th Dec

The Berkshire animals (gorilla, tiger and polar bear) and their activist friends were out in force last Saturday, campaigning for the Big If.

My impressions of THE WAVE..!!!!

Hello to all of you, my name is Melanie, I come from Austria and at the moment I live as an AuPair in London. Being always very curious concerning what is going on around me, I was looking for a place to meet other people who

Oslo Vigil Dec 09

Secret Diary of an Assistant Cook, age 39 ½

This time a week ago, we were making banners in the snow near Oslo. Now a lifetime away, the Rainbow Warrior is moored on the outskirts of Copenhagen, and the city is gripped by a dazzling array of climate events for the COP15 summit.
