European states agree communique on nuclear - Greenpeace response

13 March, 2013

In response to the government's announcement that it has signed a joint-communique with 12 EU member states to support nuclear power Greenpeace spokesperson Dr Doug Parr said:

"The UK has a unique opportunity to be a world leader in renewable energy, stabilising bills and creating jobs and investment. Nuclear power has shown itself to be risky, over-due and over-priced - it's not a reliable or cost effective way to meet our binding carbon targets. The nuclear parrot is dead. Ministers and their European colleagues need to stop trying to resuscitate it and instead back the UK's own renewable technologies."
