Based in Islington, London

Energydesk is currently looking for two new reporters keen to develop their skills as journalists and provide stories to the national press.

News Intern – You’ll need to live and breathe news on energy, climate and the environment. You’ll be required to constantly monitor and respond quickly to breaking news, thinking on your feet, working efficiently and accurately.

Investigative Intern – You’ll be a budding investigative reporter and research led journalist, who can develop research led stories of interest for Energydesk. You’ll help to originate and develop research led stories on energy and climate change.

Both interns will work closely with the Energydesk Editor in helping to source, research and write original and interesting stories on UK energy and climate change.

You will have a keen interest in and good knowledge and understanding of UK energy and climate change. You’ll have proven research and analysis skills and the ability to write original and interesting content.

Ideally we would hope you would be with us for the equivalent of two days a week, for between two to four months, but this would be flexible based on your circumstances. If you cannot travel to London or within London, we are happy for you to contribute from home with mentoring provided over Skype. Expenses, including travel and lunch will be paid. No equipment will be needed.

You'll get the chance to work on stories you choose, outside of Energydesk's normal editorial plan and to sell stories worked on during the internship to national media outlets.

Mentoring is important to us. You will receive training in research and writing from an experienced journalist along with an opportunity to receive and provide feed-back both during and after the placement.
