Greenpeace media briefing: Climate Change Committee Report “Building a low-carbon economy – the UK Innovation Challenge”

Publication date:  19 July, 2010

The Climate Change Committee (CCC) published a report on low-carbon innovation in the United Kingdom. The report follows Friday's announcement that DECC is to cut £34 million from its low-carbon funding – around 18% of DECC’s existing funding. The cuts include a £3 million reduction in the budget of the Offshore Wind Capital Grants Scheme - one of the technologies that the committee identifies as hugely important for Britain’s low carbon industrial future. This briefing outlines the Committee's suggestions.

My job is to write things that are easy to understand, and to explain stories in ways that interest people. I'm a press officer, with a healthy portion of forest campaigner on the side.

Much of the work that we do here at Greenpeace is based on climate science, and some of it is to do with government policy. Let's face it - words like science and policy are pretty boring. If I was a snooze button, I'd probably get pushed repeatedly in the face for even mentioning them.
