Greenpeace is an international non-profit global campaigning organisation. Our independence and global reach enables us to stand for positive change through action in order to defend nature and promote peace. We investigate and expose global environmental problems, confront those in positions of power and present alternative solutions.

As one of our press officers, you will focus on gaining coverage for our campaigns. You’ll be great at translating complex political, scientific and environmental information into succinct and clear messages.

As well as your communication, interpersonal skills and diplomacy, this role will also test your ability to organise and improvise. You will need to be equally adept in facing and communicating with openly hostile audiences as with the passionately supportive.

You’ll believe in our aims and have at least two years’ experience as a press officer or journalist. Some UK and overseas travel may be involved and, to ensure 24 hour cover, you’ll take part in an on-call duty rota.

Head of Supporter Recruitment

Fundraising at Greenpeace UK is going through an exciting period of development, with ambitious expansion supporting environmental campaigns around the world. Over 60% of our income comes from regular givers, so this new role of Head of Supporter Recruitment is central to our long-term success.

You will take responsibility for a programme and team encompassing all supporter recruitment activity, and be accountable for meeting our targets for growth in new supporters. To do this, you will need to make the most of the opportunities provided by our high-profile campaigns, and work with other senior staff within fundraising and across the organisation to develop and review new recruitment initiatives.

Relevant experience and a passion for Greenpeace’s mission are both essential.

Temporary Publications Co-ordinator

Greenpeace UK are currently looking for a Temporary Publications Co-ordinator to join the Publications Team for up to approximately one year, to cover maternity leave of the permanent post holder. This is a part time post, working 3 days, 22.5 hours per week.

This post is an exciting opportunity to contribute to Greenpeace's campaigns through innovative and creative engagement across communications platforms. The post will take project management responsibility for producing printed campaign materials from concept to printed delivery. Contributing to communications strategies for campaign projects that recruit and engage people in our campaigns and help to achieving our objectives.

We are looking for someone with a belief in our aims, lots of initiative, enthusiasm, commitment, strong editorial skills, visual literacy and creative project management experience to be a part of the team that is responsible for high quality print production and communications design to further our campaign aims.

Essential skills required:

  • Project management skills: with experience of external contributors, in tight and changeable schedules
  • Good writing, editorial and proofing skills, with experience of writing for a variety of audiences
  • Basic layout skills essential. Design skills a bonus (Creative Suite).

Desirable:

  • Good visual communication skills: picture editing experience desirable
  • Communications strategy experience desirable, within a campaigning context
  • Understanding of environmental issues a bonus

 

Direct Marketing Executive

DM fundraising is the lifeblood of Greenpeace. Our campaigns to protect the natural environment are wholly funded by the donations of our supporters, as we never take donations from any government or corporate to maintain our independence and our integrity. We are currently seeking an enthusiastic, highly motivated, environmentally minded Direct Marketing Executive to join a team of two to implement our exciting 2012 direct marketing plans to existing supporters.

You will be responsible for helping to implement a range of creative direct marketing campaigns to maximise the potential of our existing donors. These campaigns range from cash mail, upgrade mail, upgrade phone, developing retention materials and online asks. In addition, you will use your sound understanding direct marketing to project manage, review the effectiveness of DM campaigns, analyse results and build recommendations to improve their effectiveness. You will also get the opportunity to participate on cross organisational campaign groups to plan UK and international campaign delivery.

Supporter Services Manager

Greenpeace supporters are at the heart of our work and enable us to stand up to the might of governments and corporate greed with true independence.  Without them, we would not be who we are. Ensuring our supporters know this and understand how vital they are to our work is at the core of our supporter relationships.

The role of Supporter Services Manager is a busy one, supporting the Supporter Services team with a high-volume, varied, and sometimes unpredictable workload.  You’ll enable the team to provide a consistent and high-quality service, even during busy times. You’ll look proactively at innovations in fundraising and advances in technology to see what that could mean for the service we provide to our supporters as well as how the team works.

With increased investment in fundraising over the last 18 months, this is an exciting time to join us, as we begin to look forward to what else Supporter Services can do to further support our fundraising growth.

You will be joining a highly skilled and dedicated team. A passion for Greenpeace’s work, not just environmental issues, but how we work to bring about change, is essential.

Events Internship x2 (Co-ordinator & Support)

We are currently looking for 2 dedicated Events Interns to support our Events Team with the planning, organising and running of the Greenpeace site at festivals and events throughout the summer.   

Events Co-ordinator Intern (Role no: E1)

This intern will assist with the organisation, co-ordination and management of the Greenpeace site, using skills and experience gained in previous roles. The intern will be highly organised with excellent written and verbal communication skills. The ability to develop excellent working relationships with key contacts is also essential.

This is an exciting role for somebody with previous experience of events organisation, coordination and management (ideally outdoor events) who is looking at enhancing their CV by working at some of the UK’s most established and well known festivals and events.

Events Support Intern (Role no: E2)

This intern will provide essential administrative and logistical support for the Events Team throughout the busy festival period. You need to have attention to detail, be enthusiastic, creative and a natural problem-solver.

This is an ideal role for a recent graduate/student in Events Management or for someone with an interest in events management who is looking for a summer work placement.

Major Donor Fundraiser

Donations from people are the lifeblood of Greenpeace all around the world. Our campaigns are wholly funded by the generosity of our supporters because we do not take donations from companies or governments. We are currently seeking an enthusiastic, highly motivated Major Donor Fundraiser who can help us grow our small successful major gifts programme in the UK.

This is a new role that has arisen following a successful period of growth in our major gift programme. It comes with an opportunity to make a significant impact on the organisation and its mission for a green and peaceful future.

For the last three years we have been stewarding and upgrading a small group of major donors, and identifying new prospective major donors. The potential within the group is clear and ready for cultivation, offering a skilled and motivated fundraiser an amazing opportunity to join a passionate team and deliver growth for a well-known organisation with ambitious goals around the world.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Our Major Donor Fundraiser must be highly self-motivated, enthusiastic and a confident person who is passionate and confident about asking for large sums of money to protect our planet, and you must be comfortable working with programme staff at all levels. 

We require someone who has demonstrable experience in making successful face-to-face asks to individual donors, and also has excellent skills in managing the ongoing stewardship of donors. 

This person will be managed by our High Value Fundraising Manager and will be responsible for cultivating new relationships, account managing a portfolio of donors, as well as preparing proposals and managing events. The role needs to ensure that as the major gift programme develops it remains rooted in our organisation’s campaign priorities and wider activities.

Campaigner - Temporary

Join the front-line of our work – investigating and exposing environmental abuse, promoting environmentally responsible and socially just solutions and confronting those with the power to bring change.

Campaign techniques span investigation and research, public, political and corporate work, use of traditional and new media, science and the law and non-violent direct action. Candidates will need strong campaigning experience in one or more of these areas, with the creativity and strategic skills to develop campaign thinking.

Digital Communications Internship

We want someone who can take a brief and develop it into a useful project, is self-starting, can analyse information, good at dealing with others, and pragmatic about what works in a fast paced organisation. Ideally you will have some digital skills and event management experience but this is not essential.  

We need someone to provide support to our web team. This role will support specific projects, involved in the development of an innovative new digital tool for the ocean campaign.

The internship is 2-3 days per week (depending on availability) for a minimum of 3 months (starting approximately February 2012).

Finance Analyst

Greenpeace stands for positive change through action. We investigate, expose and confront environmental abuse by governments and corporations around the world. We are entirely funded by donations from our supporters and we need to manage our finances very wisely. Our finance team is therefore crucial to our campaigning efforts!

The Finance function is well established, but the team is now looking to modernise some systems and processes, with a view to enhancing our customer service ethos. 

This post plays a crucial role; taking the lead for reporting, budgeting, forecasting and analysis. The role also supports senior management in implementing the Greenpeace UK business plan. 

We are looking for a self-motivated, flexible qualified or nearly-qualified accountant. You are likely to have:  

▫        Proven experience of working in a finance function in a hands-on role

▫        Experience of management accounting, budgeting and reporting. 

▫        An in-depth knowledge of data extraction, manipulation and analysis techniques

▫        Experience of using Sun v5 or v6.
