My name is Brian McGleenon. I live in Belfast, N. Ireland. I teach film making, and have directed many short films and created animations. I spent many years, prior to my current Belfast base, as a storyboard artist in London.

I became involved in environmental and ecological issues at a young age. I helped a teacher at school plant trees on waste ground. This waste ground was then bulldozed to make room for the new school car-park. I witnessed the old woods near my house become an ugly edge of town hotel. I watched David Attenborough at night. Witnessing the Fairmile protests in Devon I became inspired to take action myself.

I joined an activist group at University in Belfast called Green Action. We campaigned successfully on many issues and helped organise Eco-topia Ireland and two successful Climate Camps. I have been active in the Woodland Trust for many years, and have made promotional films for them. I have planted many parts of my local area with trees, even to the point of replanting land that is now a despicable Ghost Estate. The trees will grow before the houses do.

I have been involved in Greenpeace for five years. I take part in weekly meetings in Belfast. I have enjoyed sub-vertising, discussing fisheries with fishermen, wearing a polar bear suit and setting up the Greenpeace stall at various events around Belfast.
