I am Green activist, a mother of four and a grandmother of two. I was born and live in London, trained and worked as a journalist, presented an internet radio programme and now write poetry with the BR1 poets.
I got involved with Greenpeace over twenty years ago when I saw three people, in a 15 foot boat, sit under a Nuclear Bomb testing site. This simple strategy, done in peace, led to a global ban on ‘real’ nuclear bomb testing. Greenpeace went to the heart of the matter and placed their knowledge immediately in the public eye. I wanted to be part of that outreach.
I have been a local group coordinator for a number of groups, and am now the coordinator for Greenpeace Bromley. I have made many close friends and my favorite moments include being a Greenpeace Orangutan, being arrested in Belgium on a European action, taking part in Festival outreach and passing on campaign messages while doing street communications.
I care and continue because the future concerns me, knowing my grandchildren will face climate change - any preventive actions we take now will have a beneficial effect.
I am passionate about the threats of coal, oil and Nuclear power and about the effects company supply-chains have in the environment at their source; the effects Greenpeace campaigns can have on individuals, motivating them to take action to change laws to restrain abuse by corporations.
I have given talks and my PowerPoint presentation to pre-school, Primary and Secondary schools, Sixth-form colleges and Universities.
I feel it is important to link with young people as showing them Greenpeace campaigns, actions and successes gives them another perspective on the world.
