Pete is a volunteer deck hand on the Rainbow Warrior.

Like a kid at Christmas, I've been struggling to get to sleep with all the excitement, but now I'm getting used to the ship's routine (even though every day seems to be different what with all the activities going on).

It's a multinational crew with stories to tell from around the world and all are really friendly and supportive - in true Greenpeace fashion. Three had to go home a couple of days ago and I find myself hugging people I've only known for a few days.

On Thursday evening, after holding seminars for the two main political parties, we slipped our moorings, nudged the ship around and headed back down the Thames, under Tower Bridge and then on to Chatham.

On Friday, we picked up local representatives for a tour of the coastline. Much of Kent is low lying and we wanted to show them the effects cliimate change would have here - but also that there is an alternative, if we act fast enough - and there it is, visible from the Warrior, Kent Flats Wind Farm.

As we pass Kingsnorth power station, the front line in the battle against coal and climate change, the police once again kept a close eye on us from their launch - although they were kind enough to make a couple of cups of tea for Henry and myself in the inflatable.

I was here a few months ago at Climate Camp and I had a sneaking suspicion I may return, but I never thought it would be aboard the Rainbow Warrior.

Hi both,

Pete's busy right now (doing proper work), so I thought I'd just say thanks for coming - and for signing up!

I'll be putting a selection of the photographer's pix on Flickr tomorrow (http://www.flickr.com/photos/greenpeaceuk/) and on Moblog (http://moblog.net/greenpeaceuk/) - and of course on this site. I'll look out for one of someone with a rainbow on their face :-)

Thanks again,

Bex

Hi Simon

It took a while but I think I've got it - is this the one?

Cheers,

Bex

PS Note to others - sorry, we won't have time to do the same for everyone who had a pic taken - there are thousands of photos from the ship tour and open days!
