In pictures: Oscar-winning actor Javier Bardem leads the call to protect the Antarctic Ocean

Posted by Angela Glienicke - 17th July 2018

Earlier this year Javier Bardem, an Antarctic Ambassador with Greenpeace, dived in a two-person submarine to the seabed of the Antarctic Ocean. On July 10, he met Environment Secretary Michael Gove and joined a panel discussion at Greenpeace’s immersive Antarctic 360° geo-dome to discuss the global campaign to create a 1.8 million square kilometre Antarctic Ocean Sanctuary. Here are a few impressions from the event and the campaign:

The event was timed to coincide with a meeting of Antarctic scientists in Cambridge, who are discussing technical plans about marine protection in the Antarctic.
