Canvass your MP about cutting emissions
Posted by saunvedan on 18 June 2008.
A brand new campaign has been launched in which you can Canvass your MP to bring in tougher targets on cutting CO2 emissions. This website was created within a week thanks to climate campaigners working round the clock to make it available to you to take action. The climate change bill proposed by the government promises emissions cuts of just 60 per cent. However, a much higher figure of at least 80 per cent is required for realistically tackling climate change.
This is a great opportunity for you to personally meet your MP and express your views on the climate change bill and why emissions need to be cut by more than 60 per cent. There's nothing more personal than meeting your MP face to face and talking about issues you feel passionate about. This is your chance to do just that and for a good cause too.
Here, you can find your local MP, get contact details and visiting hours when you can pay them a visit and finally report back with what your MP had to say about the proposed cuts. It will help to know whether your MP is in favour of higher CO2 cuts or not which will shape future campaigning on this issue. So get in touch with your MP and let them know what you think of the climate change bill and why 60 per cent is just not enough.
