Video: Emma gets mad while MP gets suspended over Heathrow

The (let's not beat about the bush here) insane decision to approve a third runway at Heathrow has caused passions to flare in some rather startling ways. Emma Thompson (who you may remember is one of the four names on the deeds to our Airplot) pulled out all the stops on the ITN lunchtime news. Be warned: this video contains the word "egregious".

Meanwhile, in parliament, decorum was shattered when John McDonnell MP (whose constituency of Hayes and Harlington is underneath Heathrow's flight path) was suspended from the house for refusing to shut up when Geoff Hoon regurgitated the same old greenwash pap we've been fed for years.

would it be possible for the plot of land bought by greenpeace et al to be subdivided into tiny individual plots, which could be then leased to individuals on, say, a 999 year lease, at a rent of, say, £1 a year? There would then be thousands of leaseholders, all of whom would have to be contacted regarding compulsory purchase.

This ridiculous decision has been made, now is the time to think of ways to make the whole process so difficult that a re-think is forced upon the government, I just thought having thousands of leaseholders would be an idea worth considering? I'd have a plot for a start!

hmm very interesting videos , i liked them . i m quite surprised about John McDonnell MP ...

A great piece of article and news , I enjoyed going through it a lot , and certainly liked the news about MP getting suspended.

Go Emma!

HMG has recently pushed through "Fastrack" planning laws and special provisions to counter "Vexatious" objectors.

Would be pretty good if they had to fight CPOs in the US and around the world, because Native tribes with special land rights had these so sloppily drawn that they covered a patch the size of a newts bottom by Heathrow.

Wonder if there are even any UN protected land rights for Chilean Jungle tribes or South African Bushmen ?

Taking a case to the UN could take a year or ten and cost a few bob....

's Inuit, Innit.

..and that's another idea; how about creating a Newtarium of Great Cresteds, which can then be "discovered" in a pond in the field in question?

Ok, so Matt Crawford found a loophole, but guys, it wasn't real...

Ken?
Got anything else to do these days?

Up the revolution.

I agree the plot should be sold off to thousands of people - how about selling bits for a penny to people in various parts of the world who will be most immediately affected by climate change?

argh! i can't believe how short-mind, selfish, and down right stupid the government is being - it makes my blood boil.

but well done emma and well done john for sticking up for common sense.

If Emma T wants to avoid egregious hypocrisy she could commit to making fewer flights in 2009 and let people know how she gets on.

I have signed up as a beneficial owner to the Airplot scheme, but as a Liberal Democrat councillor I must protest at the amount of free publicity Greenpeace is giving to Zac Goldsmith in this matter. As you say, he is the Conservative prospective parliamentary candidate for Richmond Park. This is a constituency very close to Heathrow which is currently ably represented by Liberal Democrat MP Susan Kramer. It’s true that lower down on your web page you do name Susan Kramer as a beneficial owner and a Lib Dem MP, but you conveniently forget to mention that she is the sitting MP for the constituency which you have already said prominently that Mr Goldsmith would like to represent!

Richmond Park will be closely contested at the next election by two people equally opposed to the third runway. Please make this absolutely clear in your publicity, or Greenpeace's political neutrality will be highly suspect.

I do not live in Richmond Park or have any personal connections with it.

The additional capacity isn't needed to accommodate visitors to the UK but for interconnections. The insanity of routing flight paths over the centre of a world city to allow people to change planes in the UK rather than anywhere else doesn't make sense.
