The past month seemed quite successful, one of the first things the new government did was scrap the plans to build a third runway at Heathrow and also similar plans at Stansted and Gatwick. We were obviously pleased at this announcement as we had spent a lot of time over the past year out on the streets signing people up to become owners of Airplot. It’s sometimes easy to feel overwhelmed by the enormity of problems like climate change so it's good to occasionally have a few victories.
We didn’t get a chance to do the Kit Kat campaign as Nestle gave in to Greenpeace's demands and agreed to stop using palm oil and other ingredients from suppliers that destroy the rainforest. The focus of the Palm Oil campaign is now HSBC.
The Trident campaign also seems to be going well after it became a focus in the election campaign and a key point in the debates. The majority of the people we asked in Dudley said they were in favour of cutting Trident and including it in the Strategic Defence Review. We also noticed that a lot of election billboards around the West Midlands and Dudley seemed to have had an Anti-Trident Message added to them.
