Dirty Oil & BP

Posted by cl4vicl - 14 June 2010 at 9:16pm - Comments

Last week was another active week for us; some of us went to see Dirty Oil at the Birmingham Just Film Co-Op. It’s a film about BP’s involvement in the Tar Sands and highlights some of the issues such as the negative effect the Tar Sands are having on the local first nation communities who have seen a massive increase in rare cancer related deaths. It also highlights America’s involvement and growing dependence on oil from the Tar Sands and the toxic dumping in the great lakes.

Then on Saturday we were out campaigning again to continue to raise awareness about the Tar Sands and especially BPs involvement in them. We seemed to get a lot more people coming up and asking us what the Tar Sands were and wanting more information than last week. We’ll soon be ready to take our campaign to BP.
