Bristol East Greenpeace attended their second car boot sale today and raised £88 towards the cost of a new Arctic survival pod (see video below). This means our two visits to Clifton Car Boot Sale have amassed an amazing £200 from 'recycling' our clutter.
Our Car Boot Team II included Carol, Madeleine, Ian and myself. Well done to Ian for donning his polar bear costume to gain additional attention to our stall and gave us an opportunity to link his presence to our campaign to save the Arctic. It was great fun to see those people who were perusing our wares only to jump in shock when they looked up to see a 6ft 5' polar bear behind the table! Madeleine discovered a latent flair for merchandising by matching and displaying items to best effect and this worked wonders in shifting a good few pieces. We set ourselves mini challenges to sell some of the items that just didn't seem to be of much interest. A pottery owl went that way - but could we shift the ceramic donkeys? Hell no!
Thanks to those members who donated items for the sale and big thanks to Clifton Car Boot Sale for giving us a pitch for free. Much appreciated.
So far over £50,300 has been raised towards the £80,000 cost of building a brand new pod. To donate please click here. The video below explains why the survival pod is such an important piece of equipment in our fight to protect the Arctic from companies who plan to drill for oil.
