Fantastic Storm trooper action along the SouthBank on Saturday, and our group of 12 volunteers, from all over London, joined Patrick and I from Bromley in spreading the word that VW could do better...from making car enginines energy-effiucient, to supporting EU regulations about the amount of Carbon Emissions we are 'allowed' to pollute with, not opposing them.
We settled near the London Eye and had a procession of people passing by, some tourists, many families from the capital out for the day. Being near some of the 'statue' folk, we found a Darth Vader so got some photos of the two of them together, and since Disney has agreed to change it's packaging policy away from Indonesia, we allowed our trooper to shake hands with MIckey and captured the moment on film....
Our team gathered 175 signed pledges to be sent on to VW at the stage of the campaign, and great thanks and congratulations go to each member - especially our Stormtrooper Eric, who was, like Patrick, on his first Greenpeace Campaign action.....both said they had good fun and a great time.
Moving from the South Bank we walked up to Trafalgar Square to join the other teams who had been campaigning all over London, and bumped into the UK Santacon movement (dress up as Santas, drink and roam around London for a bit!) so there were photos for all taken there.
Once the action was over it was all into the pub for a bite to eat and a brief de-brief, while watching the 'raw' footage of pictures and video's which had been taken during the day.....
Looking forward to seeing you all at our Christmas Social tomorrow nbight - will post up pictures of the team on Saturday as soon as they get to the website.....
Season's Greetings to all
