Hampstead street cleaners Ask the Climate Question

Posted by Richard Martin - 6 May 2010 at 11:07am - Comments

As the election candidates are working hard to get us out to vote, we've been hitting the streets ourselves.  Well, cleaning them to be precise.  We wanted to remind the candidates of the three main parties that climate change is a top priority for voters.  Where better to leave our message than on their very own doorsteps?  In Hampstead & Kilburn and Islington South & Finsbury, we visited each candidate's office with a jet washer, and left a clear message for them to clean up their acts on climate change.

After the initial surprise, we had a warm welcome at each of the offices.  We were offered cups of tea, and even help carrying our equipment!  Perhaps a sure sign of how effective the Ask the Climate Question campaign has been in the last few weeks.  In each marginal constituency, hundreds of people turned up to our Climate Question Time hustings, showing the candidates that climate change is a key concern for voters. We've also been out on the high streets, collecting people's climate questions for the candidates, and talking to people about their concerns about the climate.

So, today, as the candidates leave their offices on their way to the polling station, they'll have to step over our little reminders that the people whose votes they desperately need, will be using their policies on climate change to help them decide.
