Dates for your diary:
Saturday 28th January - Day of Action in London - Campaigning against Volkswagen
Tuesday 7th February - Next meeting
Saturday 11th February - Political Lobbying Training

Highlights:
We had a great start to the new year, with our first monthly meeting of 2012 on Tuesday. We were packed out, and there was standing room only for the last few people who arrived. (Tip for next month - get there early!). We had a review of all the things we did in 2011 and thanks to Richard for giving us an insight on what campaigns will be heading our way this year.

Thanks also to Ben, for his talk on what it was like to take part in the Greenpeace Non-violent Direct Action against the Department for Transport for their efforts to scupper EU legislation that would keep dirty tar sands oil out of petrol pumps.

We had a review of the December Day of Action in London, when Greenpeace networks from all over London came together to campaign, asking Volkswagen to stop lobbying against Europe's climate laws. Videos of the day are here and here More info on the campaign here. And get involved in the online rebellion against Volkswagen by joining the Jedi Council on Facebook.

Coming up:
- We have planned another day of Volkswagen campaigning action for Saturday 28th January, 11am to 3pm, on the South Bank, meeting at Royal Festival Hall. Our plans were so good, that at least 4 other London Greenpeace networks are joining us! It's going to be a brilliant day, so if you want to help us to get people's support for the Volkswagen campaign, there's more info here and drop me an email at neiljones78@gmail.com to volunteer.

- Our February meeting will (unusually) be on Tuesday 7th, as the following week is Valentine's Day. As so many of us in the group are old romantics at heart, we voted in favour of rescheduling. Sorry for any inconvenience. It'll be 7pm, upstairs at the Crown & Goose. More details here.

- If you would like to get involved in the Political Lobbying side of Greenpeace's work, then you can apply to attend the free training day on Saturday 11th February, contact lobbying.uk@greenpeace.org or see here for info.

This is a great time to get involved with Greenpeace, so let me know if you want any more info or if you want to join us on the 28th.

Cheers,
