In times like these when we are all feeling the squeeze it can be really difficult to keep supporting your favourite environmental group – well, there is a solution! If you are a budding artist, have your own band or simply want to showcase other bands in a club night then why not do it as fundraiser for Greenpeace at the same time?
If you already have your own gigs (or perhaps publish your own music) then all you need to do is let us know what, where and when, and we can support you with branded materials such as logo jpegs, banners, posters, stickers and collecting tins (and even a bit of advertising on our Facebook page or fundraising blog site!). If you have never done anything like this before but fancy giving it a go then have a read of this blog and this one to see how someone else got on, and get in touch and we can help get your road to stardom on the go (or at least help you raise some money and have fun at the same time!)
To get the creative juices flowing here’s two very different ways to use music to make money for a great cause:
Les at LVM Publishing inspired by our work, produced a beautifully haunting song - ‘I just wondered why’, with video by film maker Lottie Kingslake. He is giving 25% of his proceeds from the sales of his song to Greenpeace. You can buy it from Amazon here
House Party Massacre (aka HPM) are a British punk/alternative rock band from London. Gaining international stardom I’m sure is important to these boys – but they have also decided to temper this with the need to give something back at the same time – every gig they hold (mostly in North London) will contribute a % of the takings – not easy when you are just starting out! If you want to know when and where they are playing check out their website - http://housepartymassacre.com/live.html or email me at fundraising.uk@greenpeace.org
Whatever you’re planning and whatever you are – whether an artist like Les or a band like HPM or something completely different we would love you to use your talents to help us run our campaigns to help protect our beautiful planet from industrial abuse and degradation. Let me know what you are planning and how we can help - fundraising.uk@greenpeace.org or 020 7865 8236
Now, play that funky music, white boy…….. (OK enough already - think I’ll stick to what I’m good at!!)
Thanks fellas!
