Waitrose dump shell!

Waitrose opened two retail outlets within Shell garages in September 2011, at Bayswater and Watford. As a Waitrose customer I cannot understand why they would want to link up with a company like Shell who want to drill in the Artic, and I think they should dump shell.

Greenpeace has contacted Waitrose three times since April 2012 raising their concerns and requesting a meeting. Waitrose have not agreed to meet with them and have written to them saying that Shell have been given permission to explore the Arctic, implying that Shell's permission is evidence of their rightness in doing so.

This I feel is not good enough and I believe that Waitrose's decision to partner with Shell is inconsistent with their ethical and environmental reputation.  Greenpeace are asking Waitrose to end the relationship and I agree so, on Saturday I went to the Waitrose store in Islington, with some friends, to give out leaflets outside the store.  We very quickly run out of leaflets as many of the customers saw our posters and wanted to know why we were there.  Once we had explained why most of the customers we spoke to agreed with us and also wanted shell to end this alliance.

We will be paying a visit to the Waitrose store in Eastbourne on Saturday, so if you feel the same come and join us.  Please email me or ring me if you would like more information.
