Chief Al Lameman of the Beaver Lake Cree Nation talking about Tar Sands (Edinburgh event)

Posted by EdinburghGP - 9 September 2010 at 11:10am - Comments

Chief Al Lameman of the Beaver Lake Cree Nation, a community directly affected by the Tar Sands project, will be in Edinburgh soon to explain how a small First Nation community is fighting back to protect its ancestral lands from wholesale destruction and how you can get involved to help stop the tar sands.

Many of us have been campaigning steadily about Tar Sands extraction in Alberta, Canada over the summer, and even though we have now incorporated this into the bigger "Go Beyond Oil" campaign, the Tar Sands are still not off the agenda - and they need to be!

The talk will be followed by a drinks reception. Hosted by The Co-operative as part of their Toxic Fuels campaign, in collaboration with Friends of the Earth Scotland, WDM Scotland and the Royal Scottish Geographical Society.

We hope to see many of you there!
